Telefunken Elektroakustik, headquartered in South Windsor, CT, USA, represents a beacon of excellence in microphone manufacturing and sound fidelity. The brand, revitalized in 2001, embodies the spirit of vintage and modern innovation by meticulously reengineering parts for some of the most revered vintage vacuum tube microphones, aiming to preserve their illustrious legacy. This initiative was sparked by the reverse engineering of the ELA M 251E’s polar pattern selector switch, a critical component known for its vulnerability over time. The successful recreation of this switch marked the beginning of an era for Telefunken Elektroakustik, leading to the acquisition of rights for the Telefunken name and iconic Diamond logo in North America.

The company’s ambition culminated in the creation of the Diamond Series, which includes the most historically accurate recreations of the legendary microphones such as the ELA M 251E, C12, and U47, renowned for their remarkable fidelity and craftsmanship that shaped the sound of recorded music from the 1940s onwards. Each microphone within the Diamond Series is a testament to Telefunken Elektroakustik’s dedication to quality and authenticity, involving custom tooled parts, meticulous assembly, and rigorous testing in their Connecticut facility.

Through the blending of vintage charm and modern manufacturing principles, Telefunken Elektroakustik has expanded its portfolio to include the R-F-T, Alchemy, and Small Diaphragm Series, catering to a new generation of audio professionals and enthusiasts. This dedication ensures the continued legacy of Telefunken microphones, prolonging their impact on the recording and performing arts for future generations.
